Cephrus Premieres New Affordable Aerial High Definition Film and Photography Service
Using radio-controlled aircraft offers new opportunities of capturing aerial photography of homes, commercial property and other types of real estate at a reduced rate by eliminating the need to schedule full-sized aircraft. Using radio-controlled craft also allows Cephrus to get shots that may be restricted to full-scale aircraft due to airspace restrictions, noise and how close you can get to the subject.
“We’ve been offering this service on a limited basis due to the amount of payload our previous helicopter could carry”, says Jonathan Elliman, Director of Creative Services. “We couldn’t carry more than 3-4 pounds and they really placed a limit on the type of camera that could be mounted”, continues Elliman. “The new helicopter can carry up to 15 pounds of payload allowing us to mount standard definition, high definition, 16mm film, hi-res digital SLRs cameras and more”, says Jonathan.
The new helicopter is nearly six feet in length, can take off within a ten-foot radius and can fly for over 30 minutes on a single tank of fuel. A mounted wireless video downlink aids the camera assistant by providing a real time view from the camera giving feedback in order to get the right shot. “We’ve got several projects already lined up to use the service and will be posting some examples on our website for interested parties to see”, says Elliman.
